Skills Ontario Competition - Secondary
The 2022 Skills Ontario Competition will be tentatively held in person for contests on May 2 and 3, 2022, subject to change depending on health and safety guidelines issued by the Government of Ontario.
The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best of the best in their field. Over the two and a half days, they turn the heads of their educators, family, friends and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver or Bronze medals - and some with monetary awards, too - and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition. From there, competitors could be headed to a WorldSkills Competition. Please use the tabs to the right to learn more about competing at the Skills Ontario Competition.
In addition to contests, the Skills Ontario Competition has a number of components, including:
Career Exploration Showcase
The Showcase is an interactive career fair in the heart of the competition. Over 70 businesses, colleges, apprenticeship programs, unions and government programs set up booths, hand out items and provide activites related to the skilled trades and technologies. Young Women's Conference
The Conference offers young women the opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trades and technologies by participating in hands-on activities and speaking with mentors. Please click HERE to learn more about the Young Women's Conference.
First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) Student Conference
The FNMI Student Conference will provide FNMI students and other stakeholders an opportunity to celebrate the success and skill of FNMI youth in Ontario. Skilled trade and technology professionals will provide advice, guidance and inspiration to the conference participants, who can also check out the Skills Ontario Competition contests and interactive booths of the Career Exploration Showcase.
Closing Ceremony
Results for the Skills Ontario Competition will first be announced during the Closing Ceremony held at the Toronto Congress Centre. Competition results will not be made public until after the Closing Ceremony, so this is the best opportunity for competitors to come and accept their medals. Competitors advancing to the Skills Canada National Competition will be asked to attend the Team Ontario meeting immediately following the Closing Ceremony.
