Skills Ontario has launched the Skills Work!® Skilled Trades Workbook for young students aged 4-9 years. The workbook, launched at the Ontario Technological Skills Competition, is a new and unique avenue to reach younger learners, who may be too young to participate in existing Skills Ontario competitions and programs.
The wookbook features 16 colouring book images of a range of skilled tradespeople - a chef, a carpenter, a hairstylist, and more - as well as five skilled-trades-themed activities, including a wordsearch and maze. The Skills Work!® Skilled Trades Workbook encourages young students to explore a variety of skills.
“The Skills Work!® Skilled Trades Workbook has been a project Skills Ontario has been a project we’ve dreamed of creating for many years,” says Gail Smyth, Executive Director of Skills Ontario. “In partnership with the Ontario Council for Technology Education, we are thrilled to see it finally in the hands of youth across Ontario.”
The Skills Ontario team encourages youth to explore and learn about themselves, to discover what they want out of life and a career. This workbook is now a way to do just that.
