Competitors from over 60 countries will converge on Abu Dhabi, UAE, later this month from October 15-18 for the 44th annual WorldSkills Competition. Every two years, top competitors at the Skills Canada National Competition (SCNC) are selected for Team Canada to compete at the WorldSkills Competition against the best of their peers from around the world! Thirty-one of Canada’s most skilled young people will represent Team Canada, and Skills Ontario is proud to have four competitors on Team Canada from Ontario:

Each of these competitors have competed at the 2016 Skills Ontario Competition, advanced to the Skills Canada National Competition, and have spent the last year preparing to compete on the world stage, including participating in a WorldSkills trial competition to ensure their skills met the WorldSkills standard. These young people have already demonstrated an enormous amount of dedication and work in honing their skills and career, and Skills Ontario can’t wait to cheer them on in the next step of their journey!
WorldSkills takes place every two years, which attracts more than 1,300 competitors from 60 Member countries and regions. Competitions take place in over 50 skill areas across a wide range of industries – from joinery to floristry; from hairdressing to electronics; and from autobody repair to baking. 2018 is a qualifying year for WorldSkills 2019, which will be hosted in Kazan, Russia.
