Skills Ontario has nearly 200 volunteer mentors across the province, and each volunteer brings a vital voice to the advancement of young women entering skilled trades and technology careers. Stacey Metcalfe is one such volunteer who has volunteered as a Mentor with Skills Ontario Young Women’s Initiatives for a number of years.
Stacey consistently makes an effort to volunteer at as many Skills Ontario Career Exploration Events as possible throughout the year. Beyond her local Whitby events, Stacey has travelled to Welland, Guelph, London, Toronto, and Belleville; if she hadn’t been so busy travelling for her own work, Stacey would have been a mentor at the most recent Sudbury and North Bay events.
Stacey is a true advocate and role model for women in trades and tech, encouraging young women to challenge themselves and develop new skills, often using her own personal story of finding her true passion for Electrical Engineering after high school. “She’s just amazing,” says Sam Grant, Young Women’s Initiatives Coordinator.
Thank you Stacey for your advocacy, dedication, and inspiration to the many young people you connect with each year.
