Alumni Committee

Sam Turgeon-Brabazon

President, Skills Ontario Alumni Association

GOLD: Workplace Safety, Skills Ontario Competition, 2015
GOLD: Workplace Safety, Skills Canada National Competition, 2015

Sam Turgeon-Brabazon first became involved with Skills Ontario when he competed in the provincial Workplace Safety competition in 2015. After obtaining a perfect score at the provincial competition – the first competitor to do so in the competition’s history – Sam went on to win gold in Ontario, giving him the chance to compete at the national competition. With the support of his teammates on Team Ontario along with being motivated with the same passion that brought him success provincially, Sam went on to win gold at the national competition.

Since 2015, Sam has remained passionate in his involvement with Skills both provincially and nationally. In 2016, he served as Ontario’s ambassador to the Skills Canada Essential Skills Youth Forum. There, he along with each of his provincial and territorial counterparts had the opportunity to help create the framework for the Skills Canada Alumni Association, a framework that was implemented in 2017. That same year, he was given the privilege of returning to help lead the subsequent annual forum.

Outside his involvement in the organization, Sam lives in Ottawa and is the Principal Consultant at STB Consulting Services, a business development and government relations consulting practice dedicated to helping organizations: i) amplify their positive social impact, ii) expand their program portfolios, and iii) achieve results-oriented outcomes for their stakeholders. He graduated cum laude from the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs at Carleton University – obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management (s. Human Rights) – and is completing his master’s degree in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University. He looks forward to using his past experience ratifying successful partnerships (corporate and public-private, alike) to connect Skills Ontario alumni to opportunities for meaningful employment, volunteering, and mentorship in the community.
