On this Truth and Reconciliation Day, Skills Ontario pauses in the remembrance and honoring of survivors of Residential Schools, and those that the impacts of the dark institutional practices continues to effect.
Residential Schools aimed to assimilate Indigenous youth and their communities by the removal of young children from their language, culture, and families.
Truth and Reconciliation day is not just one day for us to reflect, but signifies the promise that all across Turtle Island need to be making in effort for true reconciliation.
Skills Ontario reaffirms our commitment to reconciliation with our ongoing dedication to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment.
By acknowledging the past we are able to work together for a shared future where reconciliation efforts become duty and the call to actions are honored.
We celebrate Indigenous excellence and innovation as the contributions are woven into the very fabric of strengthening Turtle Island.
Skills Ontario encourages everyone to learn more through the participation in their local events, and to educate themselves on the dark histories of Residential Schools and the effects that remain today.
