About Our Camps

The Skills Ontario Trades & Tech Summer Camps provide participants with the opportunity to explore careers in the skilled trade and technology fields in a hands-on camp setting! Our camps allow youth throughout the province of Ontario to gain access to information on career pathways and opportunities, and practice essential skills needed to enter the skilled workforce.

Our summer camps are held in different regions of the province each week, throughout July and August each year. At each camp location, Skills Ontario works closely with our camp hosts and other local organizations to provide our participants with an exceptional camp experience. Our camps focus on exploring the skilled trades & technologies careers, which includes the construction, industrial, motive power, service, and technology sectors.

Our summer camps are intended for participants entering Grades 7-9 the following school year.

Each camp session runs Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day.

Each week of camp typically includes a combination of hands-on workshops, activities, and games. Some camps may also include a campus or industry tour, guest speaker(s), or other special events. Specific careers/topics covered at each location will differ based on the specialties of our camp hosts, local partners, and the resources available in each community/region. See the activity descriptions and sample schedules below for more information.

Camp agendas outlining workshops and other activities for each camp session will be posted on the individual Eventbrite pages as they become available. All agendas will be posted a minimum of seven days before the event’s start date.

Activities & Games

Through classroom-based projects and activities campers will learn key concepts and practice essential skills necessary for many skilled trade and technology careers, such as: planning & design, teamwork and collaboration, problem solving, communication, public speaking, and dexterity to name a few!

Icebreakers and games will be included throughout the week to give the campers and staff a chance to get to know one another and promote a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.

Hands-On Workshops

Led by industry professionals, these introductory level workshops explore the basic principles and technical skills of one or more skilled trade/technology professions.

Each camp will include approximately 3-4 hands-on workshops.

Campus & Industry Tours

Tours typically include a walkthrough of a professional workspace or training facility. Campers will have the opportunity to see first-hand what careers, and related career pathways, are available within the local community.

Guest Speakers & Other Events

Industry professionals speak to their personal experience working within a relevant career. Other/special events may also be added.

Camper Showcase

Parents/Guardians and other guests are invited to our end of week showcase! This is a fantastic opportunity for your children to share what they’ve been working on all week and showcase their talents.

Lunch/Outdoor Time

Each day of our camp includes dedicated time for lunch and outdoor activities, providing a chance for campers to relax and refuel.
